Lusaka to Mapanza - Sunday, Sept 8

We hired 2 taxis to take us to the bus station.  First we had to stop at the Baptist Mission where we left a few boxes that we were unable to take on the bus.  Arriving at the bus station about an hour before our departure, we found a snack shop and purchased a couple of samosas for our lunch.  The bus was scheduled to arrive at 1:00pm, however, it showed up late and we did not leave Lusaka until 2:00pm.  There were several stops on the way picking up other passengers.  It was almost 8:00pm when we finally arrived in Choma, where Mulenga was waiting for us with the van.  Upon arrival to New Day around 9:00pm we learned that Mweena had fallen out of his top bunk and was hurt.  Mulenga and Elizabeth took him to the clinic that night to diagnose his head (which had a large bump on the forehead) and his jaw (which he cracked a tooth/lost it and hurt his jaw).  Ricky and Wes went to the boys house after Mweena had left for the clinic, and they determined that 2 other boys had been jumping on Mweena’s bed prior to him getting up there, and they apparently had jostled the wood so much, that is why it had fallen.  The clinic gave him some medicine and sent him home that night.  Before going to bed, we checked our email only to find out that Coby had broken his wrist playing basketball.
Blu, I knew you had a secret we didn't know about! This is what you have been doing in Zambia, opening hotels in your name?

This was our view for 2 hours as we waited for our bus!

You just never know what you will see at the bus terminal... carrying a mattress? on the bus?

Finally, our bus arrived. Now the challenge for the driver to back into this space - where all the people are standing. They have to be really good drivers!
It was scary watching the crowd not move for the bus.  One little child almost got hit, even though her mother was standing right there watching the bus back up.

The bus getting a good wash for the next journey. This guy had a rag hung on top of his stick, and dipping it into this dirty water.

Mazungu's (white people) at the back of the bus!!!
